"Don't Worry, Be Happy!" or "Just Do It!"
I was reading a friend's blog and she was discussing how disappointed she gets when others don't live up to her expectations or when they don't appreciate all the knowledge, advice, and expertise she has to offer. We all are like that, being recognized is very impotant, but by whom?
I was recently reminded of a quote from Saint Augustine who said, "Love God and do what you want!" So, now you're asking just how does that relate to my friend's dilema and what was asked to prompt Saint Augustine's answer? He had been asked by someone what they should be doing . What job was significant, worthy and pleasing?
Do you remember being "in love"? How everything was great because the one that mattered most loved you? How your day was spent being consumed with ideas of how to bring a smile to the face of the one you adored? How his/her little gifts meant everything? How little it mattered what everyone else thought or said? Only his/her voice was right? How happy you were?
When your focus is loving God, you will want to do what he destined you to do. You will be happy opening and using the gifts and talents He has given you. Other people and your relationship with them will always matter, but in a secondary roll. You'll hear His words encouraging and advising you. Your expertise has been "stamped for approval" by the guy who created the universe! So, "just do it", knowing that when you filter everything ,talent and deed through His love, you'll be content just being you and you'll enjoy the job alot more!
P.s. Disappointments are temporary, "love never fails".
